Maggots and Grandma (don"t ask!)

I have been thinking about my Grandma G. lots lately. I have not seen her in forever. Today we (the girls and myself) decided to visit her. Well, that was all fine but on our way our Captain Jack and his lady were on the porch and they were hungry. I went to get them some cat food. ****gross, I get the hibby jibbies just thinking about this*** I opened a package of canned food at the top was fine, it was the second one that was horrible. Without looking I went to open the top of the can and my hand touched something slimy. I looked down and there were these black maggots on the top of the can (yuck!!). I was so freaked out that I threw the can and started yelling. The girls were on the front porch and they yelled for me but I was to busy freaking out and yelling. I ran to the bathroom and the girls came to check on me. It was horrible! We had to yell for my husband and poor thing…he had the job of cleaning up the maggots and the cat food. (He is so wonderful!!). Well…I know I should be horrified by what I did (throwing the food and yelling). However, I am not! I freaked and it was yucky!!!!
After that horrible disaster we went to see my Grandmother and it was a nice visit! I was sad to see how time ages people. I was also amazed at how much things stay the same. I was looking around her home and remembering items that had been there when I was small. I saw the kittens I had made her when I was a girl and they made me smile. She was doing some embroidery on tea towels and I enjoyed watching her. I came to love tea towels from her. I bought a set awhile back and they are on my “to do list”.

Biggest Looser

Well...i did it! Iwent ahead and signed up for the Biggest Looser at work! you talk about leaving my comfort zone! I debated about this and spoke with my family and we all agreed it might helpo me get over my plateau (I am stuck at 40 pounds!!!). I am a very personal person (hahaha so why do I blog!!!) and the thought of co-workers seeing my weight killed me! My husband and i were laughing becasue i would feel better if i went on national tv and gave my weight instead of at work! anyway...signed up and i now have butterflies...did i do the right thing??????

Manic Monday:

What's your favorite food item that is in your refrigerator right now? COKE!!! I guess it's not a food BUT try telling my tummy that! It is the first thing I reach for when I open the refrigerator (shame on me...). Honestly, I am thinking and that is the only thing that comes to mind. COKE!!!


Do you enjoying barbecuing on the grill? What's something that you make often? I would LOVE to barbecue more! However, I tend to burn the outside of food and the inside is raw (eeehhhwwww!). One day I will be able to barbecue with the best of them!!! *sigh*

What one item (kitchen gadget, appliance, food item) in your kitchen best describes your personality? Why? My bright red spatula! I love how it outshines the other spatula's (hehehe...me????) and I always turn to it to turn things over (make sure they don't burn), take things from the cookie sheet to the server, serve dinner....it is my go to gadget in the kitchen. I think that is how I look at myself...a go to person!! :)

What was the best day of the past week for you and why?
Everyday was a good day this week! Me and my family are healthy and loving each other so what could be better!!!!

What is the best thing about the city in which you currently live?
It has a Target and scrapbook stores! Love that!!! hehehe. More important...we are able to see the mountains from our city...that is the best thing!!!

What do you love most about yourself?
My passion for life!!!!

Graduation!!

This was a special graduation for us. Reggie was asked to be the speaker and that was an honor for him and us. He did an incredible job and I think everyone will always remember his story about the baby birds coming down the cliff. Great job!!! It was also special because we have watched a few of these graduates grow up and it has been an incredible journey. I remember one of the girls was in our Girl Scout Troop and she was a Brownie and a Junior! And now she is a graduate!! Wow…how time flies. I am so excited to see how these young people turn out. I pray they will have much happiness and success in life!
Graduations are always wonderful. I always get a kick out of how they are so innocent and excited about life! The idea of life is so new to them and the world being and oyster and them the pearl if a belief! Yes…graduations are wonderful!

Rapids 1st home game

today we went to the first soccer game of the season. it was also the first game in the new soccer park in Denver. Reggie has been excited about this for months! Well...i was real excited until we found out it was going to be freezing and snowing! It was horrible!!! The weather was cold and freezing and yes it actually started snowing during the game. I spent most of the game huddled under "Gwyneee" and Reggie (it did not help!!). My legs were frozen and numb!!! The game was exciting but it could not keep me warm so it lost interest after the first half! We tried to drink cocoa and that did not help!!! Boy...i sure hope this is not what it is like for the next game (being married to a soccer fan almost always guarantee's there will be another game. smile

Happy Cinco De Mayo! Today we celebrated by going to our favorite Mexican restaurant...Senor Rics! Wow! We can honestly say the girls have grown up there! We love the food (gringo Mexican but still good...hehehe). It was festive and fun (i wish we would have gone a little later so we could see the Mariachi's play.
Reggie decided he was going to get some "creative shots" with the camera!

Manic MONDAY

If your house was burning and you only had time to rescue three non-living things what would they be?
Non-living....well the 1st thing would be my pictures! all 200 million of them (hehehehe), then I would save my scrapbook albums and last but not least our computer (lots of memories and my daughters writings in that thing! (boy that was an easy one to answer!)

If you were to take a week long car trip with your family or friends, what complaint are you most likely to hear from your fellow travelers? What complaint would they most likely hear from you?
The complaint we would hear is...there is not enough room to lay down and sleep! Even though have a mini van it is still crowded (the back seat is filled with bags, ice box and shoes!!!). My main complaint would be for Reggie to slow down so I could take better pictures!

What or who encourages the child in you to come out and play?
LIFE! Yes, life in general encourages the child to come out and play (when it is going good...when it is going bad like a child I want to get under the covers and wait till the "boogey man" goes away!

wow!! what a crazy messed up week this has been!!! I think I know what a pretzel must feel like...all twisted and torn apart! I would love to say "the sun will come out tomorrow" but I just aint' feeling it. I want it to rain and storm and rain some more...it would match life right now and maybe standing in the rain would wash some of this stress away! I know...this to will pass...but darn does it have to be a hail mary pass that goes on and on and on???? Let's throw a short pass and be done with it already!!! hehehe. I know...*happy thoughts**
